Project Description:
The Vernon-Huntington Park Open Streets event, sponsored by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), temporarily transformed over 5 miles of busy streets into car-free zones for people to explore the cities of Vernon and Huntington Park by foot, bike, and other forms of human-powered transportation. The Open Streets event included live music at Arcade Plaza, an art walk, wellness vendors, food trucks, and active transportation activities for the whole family, including So Cal Cross, bicycle rodeos, soccer demos, and training sessions facilitated by the LA Galaxy and the Los Angeles Football Club.
EBA provided project management and full-scale event planning services, including a traffic control plan; traditional marketing and social media; sponsorships; recruitment of vendors/artists/performers/volunteers; and community engagement. EBA managed a Community Advisory Committee; internal staff meetings with fire, police, traffic management; and volunteer coordination. On event day, EBA managed the event production schedule, vendor/artists/performers/volunteer check-in, stage coordination, hub set up, and breakdown.
