Christina Cardenas has 15 years of experience in public policy implementation; public awareness campaigns; governmental affairs, and community relations/outreach. Her background includes developing public policy programs for local municipalities throughout Los Angeles County and fostering partnerships with advocacy groups who support public policy initiatives and legislation. She has focused her career on organizing communities at the grass roots level to develop plans and events that encourage walking and bicycling, including managing the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) Open Streets events, facilitating the State of California’s Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Safe Routes to School Miniseries Training Workshops, and preparing robust Safe Routes to School Plans reflective of community needs and values. She also has more than 10 years of experience using public charrettes to develop street and intersection design concepts that improve safety for all roadway users and advance the full range of non-infrastructure programs (including education, encouragement, enforcement and evaluation) that supports safer walking and bicycling environments.
